my laptop is almost out of battery … I brought it in the living room tonight. So I’m gonna say Good Night and I’ll see you Monday. That would be tomorrow.

I used to love to go fishing. I was disconnected.

Getting older, I am slowly recovering my connections.

I’ve sometimes wondered what I would do, theoretically, if there were no more supermarkets and to get meat one had to catch, kill and butcher it yourself. When I was a child I was taken fishing a few times, by my father or someone else. I learned the whole routine, from digging up worms to [...]

octopus and squid are delicious. However, it’s becoming clear that they have capacities of intelligence and “talents” we are only beginning to understand. That’s why I don’t eat them anymore. I’ve been shutting down the computer and switching to doing crossword puzzles late at night. It’s OK, except that with my wonderful new glasses I can’t see the puzzles very well, those tiny little numbers.

I decided today to try the temporary “reading glasses” that I got from the drugstore. They focus a bit differently.

The amount of waste of potentially nutritious food is appalling. Of course, we do have our prejudices. This evening I was looking at a plate of gourmet-prepared octopus, with all the tentacles curling around on the plate. I said, “I’m not eating that!”

And we put thousands of tons of perfectly edible mean in the ground every year, because it’s not socially acceptable to eat it.

    flute, it’s pink, and it’s slimy. :D

I have a serious objection to the term “pink slime”. It was invented by a layman and popularized by the sensational media. It has no relevance to the actual safety or nutrition of the meat. But, who would knowingly eat something called “pink slime”? Of course not. So, thousands of pounds of potentially nutritious food [...]
